Church Covenant

A church covenant is intended to remind, commit, and recommit members of their
biblical responsibility to one another as a church. It represents the church’s visions, missions, and convictions about membership.
The following is the Pillar Bible Church Members’ Covenant:

Having, as we trust, been brought by divine grace to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and to give up ourselves to him, and having been baptized upon our profession of faith, in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, we do now, relying on His gracious aid, solemnly and joyfully renew our covenant with each other.

We commit to live in Christian unity alongside one another. It is our responsibility to carefully preserve, promote, and strengthen the unity we have in Christ.

We will, by the grace of God, not forsake gathering together for the purpose of praising God. When we gather we will read scripture, pray, sing, study Scripture, and observe the ordinances.

We will, by the grace of God, love one another. We love one another by praying for one another; confronting and correcting those in sin; bearing one another’s burdens; and rejoicing with one another. We will be slow to anger, believing the best of one another, and pursue reconciliation with our brethren we have offended and sinned against.

We will, by the grace of God, live in pursuit of holiness and stand for the truth. We recognize Scripture’s call for us to deny ungodliness and worldly pleasures. As Christians, we have died to sin and find our complete joy in Christ. It is our greatest pleasure to walk in obedience with Him. We also engage to maintain family and personal devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances.

We will, by the grace of God, move from our gathering and life with one another to bring the gospel to those who surround us. This commitment requires we both share the gospel and support the ministry of the local church. We share the gospel with our friends, family, local community, and the ends of the world.

If, by the sovereignty of God, we are moved out from this local church we promise to quickly and responsibly join another church that upholds the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.
